NEMO Begins to Prepare for the Upcoming Hurricane Season

Belize is less than two months away from the Atlantic Hurricane Season and the National Emergency Management Organization (NEMO) has already begun to prepare. Today, the organization held a national emergency operations center training with the aim to strengthen its coordination and management response to a natural disaster. Cayo Correspondent, Fem Cruz spoke to NEMO’s Coordinator, Colonel Retired Shelton De-Four, about the importance of the training.

DeFour says that this year’s hurricane season is expected to be an above-average one and encouraged residents to begin preparations as soon as possible.

A total of twelve NEMO officers participated in the training that was held at the organization’s headquarters in Belmopan.
