NEMO Continues to Prepare for an Above Average Hurricane Season

While the experts try to figure that one out, what we know for sure that we are two weeks deep into the 2021 Atlantic Hurricane Season. As we’ve reported, another active season is expected this year, with as many as ten hurricanes forming. The National Emergency Management Organization – NEMO – and the Ministry of Human Development continues to prepare in case of a threat or one of those power storms making landfall in Belize. The Ministry’s CEO Tanya Santos met with the NEMO National Coordinator, Shelton Defour and members of the Relief and Supplies Management Committee in Belmopan. According to Defour and Santos, the meeting was to make sure that the response units from NEMO and the Ministry are fully prepared.
