The announcement of a new Haulover Bridge was made over six years ago and funding was reportedly approved back in October 2017. The government had announced that it was a 12 mіllіоn dоllаr lоаn аррrоvеd out of the ОРЕС Fund fоr Іntеrnаtіоnаl Dеvеlорmеnt. It has been almost three years now and there is no new bridge in sight. Today the Chief Executive Officer in the Ministry of Works Errol Gentle announced that they are looking to begin the project very soon.
Errol Gentle, CEO, Ministry of Works: “We’re looking at a project to build a new bridge over the Hualover, that again is in the pipeline and we are hoping that we’ll be able to start that very soon. What we will have in a very short while is all our major highways upgraded to international standard and then we will be able to start concentrating on some of the other village roads and farm roads and all that.”
