New Political Movement ‘Belizeans Justice Movement’ Launches to Challenge Major Parties

There’s a new political movement in town that says it’s going to give the country’s two political mass parties a run for their money. Yesterday, a group called the “Belizeans Justice Movement” (BJM) kicked off its campaign for the next general elections. The grass-roots group hopes to put together a slate in the coming weeks and believes they’ll be able to break into the world of politics. The group says it running on a platform of representing the everyday man and woman and is focused on social issues. Today, we spoke to BJM’s National President Friday Pfizer on the reason for its formation and the party’s chances given the poor performances seen by third parties in the past.

Friday Pfizer, National President, Belizean Justice Movement: “The platform of our movement is to make sure that we as Belizean people can start making our decisions and elections based on us and not based on a political party. What we’re asking our Belizean brothers and sisters to take al look at how the things that are happening within our country with these politicians over and over giving promises and this is what we’re coming with. We’re not coming with promises, we’re coming with policies for the welfare of the Belizean people. At the moment we’re a movement due to the fact that we are collecting and we are putting together a viable slate for the upcoming elections 2025. Now the chances of us becoming the next government is the same chance like the PUP and it’s the same chance like the UDP to become the next government. It’s just when election is called it’s a 50/50 way that can go either way. And let met tell you why because of course at the end of the day the Belizean people are the ones who make that decision it’s not the political parties and me as a Belizean man all of us as Belizeans we are not politicians. We are servicemen and women to our people. And the chances for us to be the next government is as good as the chance for any other political party to be the next government.”

Pfizer says he is the group’s National President, but its leader is Rudy Wade, a resident of the Cayo District.
