In other political news: there is a new political movement in town that is going by the name of the “Belize Justice Movement” (BJM). This morning the group, identifying as a grassroots organization, held their official launch in Belize City. The political party says they’re preparing for the general elections in 2025 and are hoping to gain some momentum with an early start. Friday Pfizer, the President and founder of BJM, spoke about what sparked its formation.

Friday Pfrizer, President/Founder, Belize Justice Movement: “It’s a great day for our people. We’re here. I’m here representing a newfound movement. A movement that can bring about real change. Change that benefits majority. Changes that looks out for the majority especially the middle and the lower class who are the pillar of any economy wherever you go. I am here representing as the president of a new formed movement Belizeans Justice Movement. It’s a Belizean movement. We are looking forward fort he general election in 2025. We invite you to be a part of our team. To be a part of Belize. This is the time when we say it’s not what the country can do for you, it’s what we are going to do for our beautiful Belize. We invite you to join the movement. We invite you with open arms. It’s a warm welcome. It’s time to make that change. Belize is lack of social justice. Social justice comes under a new government. New government with ideas, new government with a heart for you. New government with opportunities. During the election, after the election Belize has absolutely nothing to lose. We are going to take Belize into it’s third transformation. Long Live Belize. Long live the Belizeans Justice Movement because social justice matters.”

Pfizer also spoke about ideas the party has and how they would implement them if elected in the future.

Friday Pfrizer, President/Founder, Belize Justice Movement: “Our next project as the next government of this country we will invest half a million Belize dollars and we will invest it in you the people. We will issue 25,000 free Belize passports to you. As a government we will invest $3.5 million Belize dollars so we can import thirty Volvo 9700 air conditioned buses in the transportation system. We will build state of the art bus terminals in Orange Walk and Corozal in the first five years of our mandate here in this beautiful jewel. As a government we will also work with all the municipalities. We will invest $2.5 million dollars in our youth every summer. At the end of our term we want you people to hold us accountable for every word that we say.”

The group says it has five members currently but is hoping to grow within the coming months.
