The partially decomposed body of a newborn was found in San Roman Village, Stann Creek District last night. Reports are that a resident had gone to an area in the village to gather soil when he observed a dog dragging something on the ground. Upon closer inspection he found that it was the remnants of a baby. There wasn’t much information the police had gathered when they met with the media earlier today.
ACP Joseph Myvette, Head, National Crimes Investigation Branch: “The remains were not complete, as a result the scene was processed and the remains were removed where a post mortem should currently be underway. An investigation is ongoing at this time and officers are on the ground trying to determine whether or not or whomever is responsible for the new born being in that area where it was found.”
Reporter: Sir is there any details known yet about parents ?
ACP Joseph Myvette, Head, National Crimes Investigation Branch: “No not as yet, that’s what we are on the ground doing at this time.”
Love News understands that a post mortem was conducted at the Belize Medical College at the Boom Junction. The results are yet to be released. Meanwhile the identity of the mother of the baby girl is still under investigation.
