Newly renovated Berger Field inaugurated

Football athletes of all ages will now be able to play, practice, and compete in style at the newly renovated Berger Field in Belize City. Yesterday, an inauguration ceremony was held at the football pitch on Vernon Street after months of major renovations and upgrades were completed. The project is geared at providing youth across Belize City with a space to engage in meaningful activities while developing their football skills. In January this year, Prime Minister John Briceno visited the pitch and had the opportunity to speak with young athletes from the area. And yesterday morning the PM spoke about the importance of investing in the country’s youth for a better future.

Area Representative for the Pickstock Division and Minister of Tourism, Anthony Mahler, spoke about the support from residents in the area who have pledged to safeguard the facilities and the positive impact the pitch is expected to have.

Other speakers included the Minister of Youth and Sports, Rodwell Ferguson, and Deputy Mayor of Belize City Allan Pollard.
