Nicaraguan National Fined for Illegal Entry

A Nicaraguan national was fined in court today over an immigration offense. Twenty-four-year-old Fabian Flores a fisherman who has been living in Belize since July, was charged with a single count of illegal entry. Reports are that he entered Belize via the banks of the Mopan River in the Cayo District, instead of an authorized port of entry.  Hastin pleaded guilty and was fined a thousand dollars plus five dollars cost of court which he was ordered to pay forthwith $1,000 plus a $5.00 cost or court fine which he was ordered to pay forthwith. He will need to spend six months in prison if he does not pay his fine.
