Nicholasa Cus looks for new land and home in Belmopan

On March 4, Belmopan residents were up in arms at the eviction of a single mother and her children from a property belonging to RECONDEV.  The woman, Nicholasa Cus was reportedly squatting on the land for years and had constructed a home for her and her children.  Recondev issued directives to have the structure removed but that was faced with much opposition and the intervention of police officers.  Today, there is an update on the situation.  Cayo Correspondent Fem Cruz reports.

Fem Cruz: Love News continues to follow up on the incident that occured on the 28th of February in the Maya Mopan area of Belmopan where the home of 40 year old Nicolasa Cuz a mother of two was demolished by the hands of Recondev. Today we went to check on Ms. Nicolasa Cuz and her two kids who spoke to us about the present situation.”

Nicolasa Cruz: “I was trying to visit Recondev like two times ago and I didn’t get the chance to speak with them. We visited the mayor and he said that he would follow up and nothing as yet. I am staying in my Aunt’s yard in her house in San Martin.”

Fem Cruz: “Mam if anyone wants to help you in getting back a home do you have an area now where people can help you and build a house?”

Nicolasa Cruz: Yes in my aunt’s yard. If anyone is out there that heard what happened to me and wants to help me, you can assist in anyway you can and I really would appreciate it, my number is 632-9459.

This is brother Fem Cruz Cayo Correspondent reporting for Love FM.”
