46-year-old Ervin Pitts was convicted for raping a 34- year-old woman back in April 2016

46-year-old Ervin Pitts was convicted for raping a 34- year-old woman back in April 2016. Pitts is on remand at the Belize Central Prison after the trial concluded late this evening in the Supreme Court. The woman accused Pitts of raping her on April 2, 2016 after a night out socializing. He reportedly told her he would take her home but he did not.  He requested sex and when she refused, he forced her to perform oral sex on him. Late this evening, a jury of nine women deliberated a little under 1 and a half hours and emerged with a guilty verdict. Justice Colin Williams has deferred sentencing for February 19. At this time, a mitigation plea will be heard.  In the rape trial, Pitts was represented by attorney, Andrew Bennett. Pitts is facing a prison term of 12 years to life imprisonment for rape. In the trial, he gave sworn testimony saying that the woman consented to oral sex on him but that after she did it, she had regrets and cried rape, which why he was charged.
