Police officers continue to probe into the murder and stabbing incident that claimed the life of 17-year-old Isaac Marin in Caye Caulker. On October 21, Isaac Marin was sleeping in his home on Luciano Reyes Street when his mentally ill cousin reportedly came into the room and stabbed him. As this was happening, Marin’s brother, Carlos, tried to intervene and got stabbed in the process. Assistant Commissioner of Police, Joseph Myvette was able to shed some light on what transpired on Monday night just after eleven o’clock.
ACP Joseph Myvette, Head of National Crimes Investigation Branch: “What the police know so far is that Carlos Marin was socializing with a cousin, one Jamie Marin inside the living room of their home when obviously an altercation ensued and as a result Isaac Marin then got up from where he was sleeping in an attempt to aid his brother and that was when he too was stabbed. The third party, Jamie Marin, also received stab wounds. He had since been treated at the Caye Caulker Polyclinic and is now in police custody whilst Carlos Marin was transported to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital where he is in a stable condition. We are doing the investigation, recording statements and preparing the file. We were told at some point that the accused person in this crime had some mental issues so that too would be taken into consideration whilst the file is being compiled and then that will be sent to the DPPs office for her direction.”
We will keep you posted as to whether Jamie Marin will be charged for Isaac’s death and Carlos’ injuries.
