No response yet for cattle farmers

Farmers in the north are growing more anxious as they have not received any response to the dilemma they are faced with when it comes to cattle exports. We have been reporting that the chairman of Bullet Tree Village, Sabino Pinelo, is allegedly implementing a fee for them to pass through the village to export their cattle to Guatemala.

Many have stated that this is outside the authority of the chairman, but Pinelo has been backed by police officers in the area. Yesterday’s Cabinet was expected to resolve the situation, but there has still been no word from the Minister of Agriculture, Godwin Hulse. We contacted Orange Walk South Area Representative, Jose Mai, and he stated that he has not heard anything from the Minister or the CEO, Jose Alpuche. He wants answers in order to ease the anxiety of the farmers that have been contacting him.  Love News will have an in depth interview with Minister Godwin Hulse in tomorrow’s newscast.
