46-year-old Noewellin Williams is serving eighteen years in prison for the murder of his common-law wife. This morning in the courtroom of Justice Colin Williams a mitigation plea was heard from, Williams. Allegations are that Williams stabbed 33-year-old Roxanne Pop on Central American Boulevard in Belize City August 2017. On Thursday, January 23, Williams opted to plead guilty to the lesser charge of manslaughter.  Today Justice Colin Williams took a number of factors into consideration including the mitigating and aggravating factors. 1/3 of his sentence was deducted for his early guilty plea leaving him with 12 years.  Justice Collin Williams then slapped Williams with an additional four years to 12 years bringing it to 16 years. Today at the mitigation plea, Williams’ last words of remorse were expressed through his attorney, Stevannie Duncan. Pop’s father testified in court today that Williams would not leave his daughter alone. According to him, Pop left Punta Gorda to start a new life in Belize City. After a few months on her new job, she called them and told them that Williams has been following her. The second call she made to them was a week prior to her death where she told her mother he was still following her and would not leave her alone. Williams and Pop had three children who are now on in the care of their maternal grandparents.
