Nomination Day for Toledo East Division Set for July 2, By-Election to Follow on July 17

In two weeks’ time, on July 2, the Elections and Boundaries will be conducting Nomination Day for the Toledo East division.  An official announcement is yet to be released from the respective authorities, but Prime Minister John Briceno had confirmed with the media on the date for the bi-election while an unnamed source has confirmed the nomination date.  The Toledo East area has been functioning without an Area Representative since the passing of the late Mike Espat on April 22.  Three candidates are looking to replace Espat in the House of Representatives, namely, Dr Osmond Martinez for the People’s United Party; Dennis Williams for the United Democratic Party and Wil Maheia for the People’s National Party.  Once the nomination day process is completed, the bi-election will follow on July 17.  The Toledo East division is made up of twenty one villages and Punta Gorda Town with close to eight thousand registered voters.  Love News will provide coverage of both events next month.
