The Secretary General of the OAS, Luis Almagro is in Belize on a two-day working visit. He arrived in the country on Sunday- at the PGIA and was greeted by government officials including Foreign Affairs CEO Ambassador Amalia Mai. He was then joined by Prime Minister John Briceno. This is the Secretary General’s first official visit to Belize under the Briceno Administration. Almagro says that the visit is significant, especially because of the role that Belize plays in the region and its contributions to the work of the OAS. The Secretary-General also applauded the government and its amnesty program. Today, in Belmopan, PM Briceno and Sec-Gen Almagro briefed the media.
