Oceana Belize holds it 12th AGM

On Saturday, Oceana Belize held its 12th Annual General Meeting (AGM) at the Saint Catherine Academy’s auditorium in Belize City. It was the first time since 2019 that members of the NGO were able to gather for an in-person event. Over two hundred wavemakers from across the country came together to discuss the organization’s mandate of protecting Belize’s barrier reef and waterways. Jacinta Gomez, Oceana’s Outreach and Project Director, explained that a main highlight of the event was the distribution of awards to various wavemakers.

Gomez also discussed the tremendous growth the organization has seen over the years and touched on how they are actively working to increase engagement among the nation’s youth.
