Official Theme Unveiled for Belize’s 2023 September Celebrations

The National Celebrations Commission has launched the official theme for the 2023 September Celebrations “Hope ignited, hands united, vision renewed: Belize@42!”  Belize City Mayor Bernard Wagner and Minister Francis Fonseca, who chairs the commission, unveiled the theme at a brief ceremony held at the House of Culture this afternoon.  Fonseca explained that the Commission put out a call for submissions for this year’s theme, but after reviewing over 200 submissions they couldn’t decide on just one.

Francis Fonseca, Minister of Culture: “So the National Celebrations Commission which I chair puts out a public call. This year we received around 230 submissions. We have a selection committee, a theme selection committee comprised o about I think six members of the commission. The Commission is a body of about twenty five people so we have a team selection committee they go through them, they vet them, screen them and then they bring to the entire commission.”
