While the highest concentrate of the Garinagu people were celebrating in southern Belize, those in Belize City were also in the celebration spirit as there was a re-enactment of the arrival of the Garinagu onto the old capital. Love News was out there to capture the event along with a presentation by the Mayor of Belize City, Darrell Bradley. According to Bradley, it is essential that Belize City, too, acknowledges the presence and contributions of the Garifuna people.
Mayor Bradley went on to speak of the multi-ethnic groups present in Belize and how it sets us apart from other countries.
The re-enactment was done by the Southern Foreshore in Belize City at around sunrise yesterday morning.
