A hundred Belizean small-scale farmers will be initiating fieldwork as part of the Sembrando Vida (Sowing Life) initiative. This project is being implemented by the Government of Belize and the Mexican International Agency for Cooperation and Development, which will benefit over two thousand farmers in the north and south. Minister of Agriculture, Jose Mai, says the extension officers are wrapping up final preparations so farmers can begin planting. The farmers will receive a four-month economic incentive along with input goods such as seeds and fertilizers.
This project is geared at increasing productivity in the agriculture sector so that farmers can become self-sufficient.
