33-year-old Alrick Smith and 19-year-old Alidia Morey were both shot on Saturday night just before 8 o’clock at the corner of Curl Thompson and Mud Streets. Police investigation shows that they were exiting Morey’s house and heading towards their vehicle when a lone gunman approached the two. According to Senior Superintendent of Police, Hilberto Romero, no motive has been established.
Senior Superintendent, Hilberto Romermo, Deputy Head, Crimes Investigation Branch of Belize: “On Saturday the 9th day of November 2019 around 7:30PM police responded to a shooting incident on Curl Thompson Street Belize City. Information was received that Alrich Smith and Aleda Murray arrived at the KHMH with gunshot injuries. Investigations revealed that they were on Curl Thompson Street heading to a car when a male person came and fired several shots at them. They were treated at the KHMH and thereafter released. No interviews are being conducted at this time to determine what led to this shooting.”
Smith is no stranger to the law. Back in 2016 he was charged for the allegedly plotting the assassination of an entire Ladyville family. Smith also escaped death in June of this year after a masked man fired several shots at him whilst he walked on Pigeon Street, Ladyville.
