Operation Fast Ball In Effect

The Minister of National Defence and Border Security has activated Operation Fast Ball. This means that all members of the Belize Defence Force who are on annual leave and stand down are to report to the nearest Military Installation. This action is necessary as the Force continues its preparation and readiness plan of action to respond appropriately to any eventuality caused by and in anticipation of Tropical Storm Lisa. Also, the Kolbe Foundation’s Management has decided to close the Belize Central Prison on Wednesday, November 2, 2022, until the ALL CLEAR has been given by NEMO. During this closure, absolutely NO visits with inmates nor business transactions with customers of the prison will be conducted.

Meanwhile, the latest flood forecast states that over the next few days, on the Rio Hondo at Blue Creek North, downstream at Santa Cruz, San Antonio, San Roman, and Douglas to the coast, and on the New River at Tower Hill and Caledonia, river levels in these areas are expected to remain above normal. On the Macal, Mopan and Belize rivers and the Crooked Tree levels are expected to continue to recede.
