The United Democratic Party (UDP) has called on the Briceno administration to revisit the current quarantine regulations. According to a release from the Opposition, the indefinite curfew in effect is unconstitutional and must be abolished. The release reads, quote, “It is noted that this is the first time a curfew has been implemented without declaring a State of Emergency, which at the least makes it arguably unconstitutional. It is also the first time a curfew has been put into effect without an end date. Therefore, not only may it be unconstitutional to implement an indefinite curfew but it is also inconsiderate of business owners and workers who normally operate and thrive outside the hours of the curfew currently in effect. It forces them to operate like this PUP administration, without a plan. The United Democratic Party calls on the Briceno Administration to revisit the protocols in place to better reflect the situation on the ground and to put an end date to this indefinite curfew.” End of quote. Love News reached out to the UDP Chairman Michael Peyrefitte and Deputy Chairman Alberto August for an interview but Peyrefitte ignored our requests while August referred us back to Peyrefitte. August did inform us, however, that the UDP will be hosting a press conference later this week. ///
