Leader of the Opposition, Moses Shyne Barrow, has responded to the Police Commissioner, Chester Williams. This week, the Commissioner made a statement saying that Barrow owes the members of the Belize Police Department an apology for always belittling the works and hours that they put in on the job. Barrow fired back this morning, saying that it is he (the commissioner) who should apologize.
Moses “Shyne” Barrow, Leader of the Opposition: “I believe that the commissioner of police, Chester Williams, is one of the most dishonest and manipulative commissioners of police that we have ever had. He uses whatever qualifications he has as lawyer to play defense attorney rather than deal with the issues that we have. So while I see him, I smile, I will always be polite and always exercise decorum. This is not personal. This is a matter of reality. Commissioner Chester Williams, Minister Kareem Musa, Prime Minister John Briceno has failed Belize when it comes to citizen security.”
Reporter: So what’s your take on the apology to the police officers ?
Moses “Shyne” Barrow, Leader of the Opposition: “That is merely a distraction and deflection tactic. This has nothing to do with anyone other than the leaders that are leading the police department to a state that they have never been. They’ve never been so demoralized. He needs to apologize to the police officers and resign forthwith and give, as I’ve always said, someone new the opportunity, new eyes, new ears, new mind to try to solve the problems that are ailing our society when it comes to citizen security.”
