One political leader who was not present today was the Leader of the Opposition Moses “Shyne” Barrow. While many had commended the government’s decision to take measures against Israel, Barrow had called the move unprecedented. Barrow said that the government was not being genuine and stated that the Briceno Administration had not condemned Russia’s assault on Ukraine and Venezuela’s move to claim a portion of Guyana. Today, Prime Minister Briceno responded to Barrow and says that his administration has spoken against injustices in this region.

Hon. John Briceño, Prime Minister of Belize: “We have spoken out immediately. We support Guyana. I don’t know what planet this man lives. We have taken our releases, we have supported with CARICOM. President Ali and I we have a personal relation and we support them 100% that we believe that what Venezuela is doing is wrong, they are trying to take land that belongs to Guyana and we will stand by Guyana so I don’t know what the opposition is talking about.”
