The leader of the Opposition, John Briceno, says that he will do everything in his power to obtain documents and information relating to Belize Infrastructure Limited, BIL. Two weeks ago, Briceno sent a letter to the Co-Chair of BIL, Deputy Prime Minister Patrick Faber requesting documents such as copies of all audited accounts of BIL, a list of all projects supervised and or financed by BIL, names of all companies or persons who were contracted by BIL and copies of all contracts. Briceno says if he needs to take to matter before the courts, then that is what he will do.
John Briceno, Opposition Leader
Once we get the information we are going to if we get the information; well we will get the information, we will analyze what is there and then make it available to the Belizean people. If you did everything above board and you have nothing to hide well then just let us have the information and then let the Belizean people form their own opinion whether it has been a good thing or not but give us the information, if you have nothing to hide, if you are not ashamed of what you have been doing give us the information that as it pertains to BIL. I am not certain that the people at BIL will willfully give us that information but if we have to go from the court of the land, if we have to go all the way to the ICJ we are going to go and we are going to press them and we are not going to stop until we get that information so that we can then do an analysis of what is happening and then make it available to the Belizean public.
According to Briceno, Minister Faber has not responded to his request.
