Opposition Leader Says Tourism Sector Still Struggling Despite Government Claims

Leader of the Opposition (LOTO), Tracy Panton, claims that the country’s tourism sector is not the flourishing success the government claims it to be. During this week’s budget debate, Minister of Tourism Anthony Mahler highlighted the sector’s remarkable recovery since the COVID-19 pandemic crippled it. However, Panton countered this, stating that many businesses in the tourism industry, especially those in her Albert Constituency, are still grappling with significant revenue losses. She described the sector as lackluster and warned that the situation could worsen with potential economic shifts in the US.

Minister Mahler also noted that his ministry is taking progressive steps to tap into new tourism markets and prepare for any potential effects brought on by a shift in the US tourism market
