Orange Walk Business Man Found Stabbed to Death

A shopkeeper was found dead inside his store last night in the Orange Walk District. Police went out to the Honey Camp area just after nine o’clock where they encountered the body of 48-year-old, Angel Valentin Gongora. Love News understands that Gongora’s body was discovered some two hours earlier, at around seven-thirty, when a customer went into the store to make a purchase. According to Assistant Superintendent of Police, Fitzroy Yearwood, investigators have recovered useful information and are hoping to make an arrest shortly.

ASP. Fitzroy Yearwood, Public Relations Officer, Belize Police Department: “Police went out to that scene sometime after nine last night. When they got on the scene the lifeless body of Angel Gongora was on the floor in a pool of blood with several stab wounds all over the body. The scene was processed, he was transported to the Northern Regional Hospital where he was pronounced dead by a medical officer. I know that our officers were out there for a while canvasing that area and they received information that we believe is useful in that investigation for us to probably lead to an apprehension and hopefully and arrest. To be very honest with you in Honey Camp area it’s like everybody knows everybody and people live in that area in a more nonchalant type of fashion so for us to ramp up the policing could also create aggravation so we cannot treat two murders in about maybe six months as ‘oh it’s densing.’  no we cannot say that. And of course in this particular case we believe that the information that investigators are gathering so far we could have an arrest rather sooner than later.”

According to Police Gongora’s body was observed with multiple stab wounds to the body, including his back, waist, rib cage, left arm, and the right side of the chest.
