 Orange Walk Carnival

Belize will be 37 years old tomorrow, way off the calendar but not yet old enough for a midlife crisis. It’s been a bumpy 37th year with unsolved crime; unflattering international categorizations about high murder per capita; being a tier three trafficking country and having a political divide on whether or not to forward Guatemala’s unfounded claim to the International Court of Justice. If you’re tired and need a break from the state of emergency, the three day weekend promises to give the weary and downtrodden a moment to live your best life. Tacos isn’t the only reason to travel to travel north, Orange Walk Town is planning a carnival it believes is bigger, better and allegedly more family oriented. Orange Walk Town Mayor Kevin Bernard extends an invitation to the rest of the country to visit Sugar City on Independence Day.
