Oscar Selgado’s Abetment to Murder Trial Advances
The abetment to murder trial against Oscar Selgado will proceed later this month with the evidence tendered against him by the alleged hitman, Giovanni Ramirez. That was the verdict handed down today by High Court Justice Nigel Pilgrim. The ruling of a voir dire was handed down in court this morning, with Justice Pilgrim deciding to admit the statement admitted by Ramirez instead of having g him testify. Justice Pilgrim said that the prosecution’s evidence was sufficient to prove that Ramirez was in fear for his life and that the DPP had satisfied the legal requirements to have his statement admitted. Commissioner of Police Chester Williams, who also testified in the case, said that Ramirez’s fear is genuine, but that the threats against him at this stage in the trial are pointless.
The trial continues on December 19.
