The Protected Areas Conservation Trust (PACT) is marking a significant milestone today, celebrating 29 years of dedicated service to conservation in Belize. The organization highlighted a year of remarkable achievements as it looks forward to its 30th anniversary. In a statement released today, PACT reflected on the past year as “incredible,” pointing to several key accomplishments that have strengthened its capacity and expanded its impact. Among the notable milestones are the renewal of its vital partnership with the Association of Protected Areas Management Organizations (APAMO) and a new partnership agreement with the Belize Fund for A Sustainable Future, both aimed at bolstering collaborative conservation efforts. A significant focus for PACT has been enhancing climate resilience. The organization proudly announced progress through its Enhanced Direct Access Project and, notably, earned reaccreditation to the Adaptation Fund, underscoring its commitment to addressing climate change impacts. Financially, PACT has made substantial contributions to the conservation community, disbursing BZ$7.75 million to support the critical work of its various conservation partners. Despite these achievements, PACT emphasized that “we’re just getting started!” and expressed anticipation for even greater accomplishments as it approaches its third decade. The celebratory message extended beyond the organization itself, acknowledging the collective effort behind its success. “Today isn’t just a celebration of PACT—it’s a celebration of YOU—our partners, stakeholders, and supporters—and the tremendous conservation impact we continue to make together,” the statement read, expressing gratitude for their partnership, trust, and unwavering support.
