Panton Slams Government Over Swearing-In Delay

Leader of the Opposition Tracy Panton has called out the Government of Belize for causing the delay of the swearing in of the UDP elected representatives.  Panton’s contention is that it has been six weeks since the elections, and a House Meeting is yet to be called.  She added that such a delay has prohibited members of the opposition from taking their oath of office. She also contends that without the upper and lower houses being ceremonially sworn in, the business of the people cannot get done.  In that same vein, the LOTO condemned the delay of the national budget.

Panton is calling on civil society partners and religious organizations to join the opposition in calling for parliament to be convened immediately
