Tensions remain high at Corozal Methodist School, as the institution is not backing down on its decision to place two teachers on administrative leave. Today, concerned parents gathered in front of the school for a second time to protest disciplinary action being taken against Stacy Chi and Julie Castro. Letters the teachers received last week said that they were placed on administrative April 29 to May 27, on allegations of ignoring directives and disseminating false information. Parents maintain that they want the teachers reinstated and say they will continue to push for the decision to be rescinded. Notably, the parents allege that the teachers are being unfairly targeted because they were lobbying to hold the graduation ceremony for the preschool on a separate day from the Standard 6 event; despite management’s decision to do so. We understand that the Bishop in charge of Methodist Schools went to the school today to speak with the management regarding the way forward.
