Parliamentarians Greet Taiwanese President with Open Arms

The visit of President Dr Tsai Ing-wen is seen as an important step towards further strengthening these ties and exploring new areas of cooperation. The visit is also an opportunity for the President to interact with the Taiwanese community in Belize and strengthen people-to-people ties between the two countries.  During today’s joint special sitting of the House and Senate, President of the Senate Carolyn Trench-Sandiford underscored the importance of supporting Taiwan. 

Speaker of the House of Representatives, Valerie Woods, spoke of the strong bond that both countries share. 

The president leaves Belize tomorrow.
