Pastor Lance Lewis has reached out to our newsroom to make clarifications on an interview he gave our Belmopan Correspondent earlier this week. The interview had to do with the rape allegations against Pastor Victor Hernandez. In the interview, he noted that fellow pastors were aware of the incident since two years ago. According to Lewis, he was only referring the incident of sexual assault that occurred in 2021 where he allegedly groped the victim on the breast. According to Pastor Lewis his previous knowledge did not include the alleged rape incidents in 2015 and 2016. Pastor Lance Lewis is the First Vice President of the National Evangelical Association of Belize. (NEAB). We do note, however, that while the association knew of the allegations against Hernandez, he (Hernandez) remained as the President of NEAB up to this week when he was formally charged by Police. NEAB confirmed via a statement this week that Pastor Lewis is serving as President as the police investigation is carried out. Additionally, NEAB says it has reached out to those close to the victim, who is under the care of a licensed trauma therapist.
