Peace Corps Hosts Service Summit in Belmopan, Strengthens Belize’s Community Development

Volunteers of the United States Peace Corps gathered today in the City of Belmopan for the organization’s Service Summit. The Peace Corps, through volunteers, works across the globe to provide technical assistance in areas like education, community economic development, youth development, health, agriculture, and the environment. The over forty volunteers working in Belize engaged in workshops and heard from local leaders like the Love Foundation’s Managing Director Deborah Erskine. Nadine Rogers, Peace Corps Country Director, spoke on the importance of the event and what it sought to achieve.
Lynelle Williams, Sports Program Director of the Peace Corps Belize, spoke to the media about how the organization is working with the Ministry of Youth and Sports to enhance the training received by local athletes.
The US Peace Corps was welcomed to Belize in 1962.
