People’s Constitution Commission Clarifies Funding Situation Amidst Reports of Delays

The People’s Constitution Commission (PCC) has come forward to address a report that the work of the commission has stalled because it has no funding. It is a report that surfaced following an assertion made this week, by way of a letter to the editor in a local newspaper.  PCC Chairman, Anthony Chanona spoke with Love News today, to say that the information in the letter was inaccurate. He said that there were delays in the receipt of some funds, but that such bottlenecks are the nature of working within the public sector.

Chanona maintains that the commission’s work continues and that work is currently underway to get the southern zones structured and running so that the ongoing information and consultation campaign can be brought to Belizeans in the Stann Creek and Toledo districts.
