Phillip Willoughby, Nelma Mortis, and Boots Martinez in Three-Way Race for Port Loyola

Phillip Willoughby, Nelma Mortis, and Boots Martinez in Three-Way Race for Port Loyola

Another issue at the forefront is the race in the Port Loyola Division, where Phillip Willoughby is running under the UDP banner, but so are Dr. Nelma Mortis and Anthony Boots Martinez. The Panton-led group has chosen Phillip Willoughby, and the Barrow-led UDP has selected Dr. Mortis. So, under whose leadership is Martinez running? Panton says she isn’t sure but would welcome him with open arms if he is successful at the polls.

Tracy Panton, Albert Area Representative: “Was the candidate for Port Loyola not in this slide presentation ? Was he there ? We have a candidate for Port and the candidate for Port is Superman Phillip Willoughby. Boots is a friend. Boots is a former colleague. Boots has always aligned himself with the United Democratic Party and Boots has run for multiple constituencies on behalf of the United Democratic Party. I will say this and I want it to be clear. Whatever happens in Port Loyola, whichever UDP candidate emerges as the winner, and when I say UDP candidate we only have one, but any UDP-associated person, we will embrace them and we will welcome them back to the party. But I believe that Phillip has the wherewithal to deliver the seat for Port.”

The People’s United Party’s candidate for the division is Gilroy Usher, who is Willoughby’s father-in-law.
