Placencia Business Robbed of Over $48,000 in Daylight Heist

A Placencia business was robbed of over forty-eight thousand dollars in a brazen daylight robbery. The owner of EMJ’s Jewelry, which also operates a Western Union office, told police that around 10:30, three men entered the establishment and one of them pointed a gun at her and told her to cooperate. The men took her into the building’s store room where another man tied her up. The men made off with a cell phone, cash, a cash pan containing five thousand dollars for the Western Union, assorted jewelry and a security DVR system to a total value of forty-eight thousand, three hundred dollars. The owner managed to free herself once the robbers had left and called the police. Investigations into the event are ongoing.
