‘Plan Belize 2.0’ is PUP’s Game Plan As It Gears Up for 2025 General Elections

Plan Belize 2.0 is the name of the manifesto for the People’s United Party (PUP) as it prepares to launch its campaign for the 2025 general elections.  Party Chairman, Henry Charles Usher, in recent weeks, has signaled a readiness in the 31 divisions across the country.  While a 31 to zero landslide is next to impossible, the PUP says it is an unlikely result that they would love to achieve.  Wishful thinking aside, Usher did say that they have been oiling their political machinery over the past few weeks and they are ready for takeoff.

Henry Charles Usher, Chairman, People’s United Party: “We have done all 31 assessments in our constituencies. We have done some training. We continue to do some training for campaigners, for database operators, for the team that will be working on election day and we are ready to go so when the Prime Minister rings the bell we will be there ready. I think the Prime Minister has said publicly Plan Belize 2.0 but what the Prime Minister mentioned on numerous occasions is that Plan Belize is a long term vision for the country, it’s a long term vision as to how we are going to turn the economy around, how we are going to develop existing and new industries in the country, how we are going to promote citizen security, how we are going to promote good governance, how we are going to look at the five pillars that make up Plan Belize, meaning healthcare, job security, land, housing and of course affordable education. Those are really the five pillars of Plan Belize and as we go into this new election it’s about developing and expanding on what we did for the last four years but certainly Plan Belize is more than a manifesto. It’s really vision, a strategy for the country going forward.”

Up to news time tonight, the Briceno Administration remains tight lipped on the date for the general elections.  Some indications are that it could very well be in the early part of March.  History shows that for the last ten general elections in Belize, six of them were held in the second half of the year.
