PLO Official Visits Belize, But No Scheduled Meeting with Foreign Minister Fonseca

Mohamed Salam, a senior representative of the Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO) arrived in Belize on Tuesday for an official visit aimed at fostering deeper ties between the two nations. The PLO, recognized as a nationalist coalition and the official representative of the Palestinian people, is engaging in a series of meetings and discussions during the visit. Interestingly, however, Francis Fonseca, Minister of Foreign Affairs, clarified that he has no official meeting planned with the officials of the PLO.

Francis Fonseca, Minister of Foreign Affairs: “I have no plans to. I have not been informed of any meeting. So I don’t know much about it. I think I received a message from someone about it. But we have no official meeting scheduled.”

Salam arrived and was greeted at the airport by Nancy Marin, leader of the Belize People’s Front.
