PM Briceno hails the appointed of US Ambassador Michele Kwan

Prime Minister John Briceno says US President Joe Biden could have not picked a better person to represent him in Belize than new US Ambassador Michelle Kwan. The 42-year-old was selected by President Biden last year to be the country’s first substantive ambassador in five years. She comes with a distinguished career in public service, diplomacy, and sports. She arrived in the country this month and has hit the ground running. Kwan is one of the most decorated U.S. figure skaters in history and advocates for women and children. PM Briceno says he is looking forward to working with Kwan to bolster the relationship between Belize and the USA.

Hon. John Briceño, Prime Minister of Belize: “She is such a lovely person. She’s full of charisma and she has a level of humility despite the fact that she has been an Olympic and world champion when it comes to figure skating, a lady that has been all over the world and now that she’s in Belize and you feel the humility and the sincerity of her wanting to work with the government, wanting to work with the citizens of this country. I am so pleased I don’t think that President Biden could have chosen a better representative to come to Belize. I want to welcome her to Belize and as I told her Belizeans we are open, we are welcoming, we are warm by nature and she says she’s already seen that and of course then she’s enjoying the food that we have and of course she says she has a long list of family members and friends that want to come to Belize to visit so I am so pleased with the choice and I have every confidence that we’ll be able to work very closely together.”
