Belize’s economy continues to rebound post Covid-19. When the pandemic hit Belize back in 2020, the tourism industry was the first to collapse and when it did so, the economy took a major blow. The Belize Tourism Board has stated that while the industry doesn’t seem to be meeting 2019 numbers any time soon, the trajectory looks promising. During an interview with Love News, Prime Minister John Briceno gave an update on the tourism rebound.
John Briceño, Prime Minister of Belize: “We look at the numbers very optimistic, and it seems that cruise ships will probably hit the 100 percent by the end of this year. Overnight tourism is going to be between 80 and 90 percent, but from what we’re seeing, who knows. Maybe it might go as far as making the 100 percent- the 2019 numbers.”
