PM Comments on Contraband Meds

Last night, Love News broke the story of a huge contraband bust that occurred over the weekend in Orange Walk. As we reported, customs officials intercepted a white Chevrolet Silverado on the San Antonio Road. Inside the car were German Antonio Lobos and Maribel De Leon and about 25 boxes of contraband medications. The medication is valued at a little over three hundred and twenty thousand dollars. The boxes were confiscated. Sources to Love News say that this has been happening for many years and that the operation has been under magnified surveillance. Love News asked Prime Minister John Briceno about it today.

Hon. John Briceño, Prime Minister of Belize: “I don’t know who the supplier is but certainly it was brought to my attention on Sunday but it’s not necessarily the Ministry of Health and Wellness but also the Customs Department that they were the ones that made the bust and the Comptroller was very clear that they were going to seize the medications and that they’re going to be charged that is exactly what is happening and we hope that after this we will not see any more of this.”
