PM to LOO: stick to rapping; you will never be PM

The Leader of the Opposition’s performance on the BET stage in Los Angeles has attracted much attention. Most people seem to agree that the appearance of the Belize flag in front of millions of international viewers was an important statement that Moses Shyne Barrow has made for the country. But one man who was not impressed with Barrow’s appearance on a North American stage is Prime Minister John Briceno. Not only did the PM say he hadn’t seen the performance, he said the UDP leader has a better chance of a successful rap career than a political one.

John Briceño, Prime Minister of Belize: “No I did not see. I, I have been busy. You can’t understand. Right now, here in Lisbon it’s almost 10 o’clock at night. My first meeting started this morning at 8:30 so I’ve been just from meetings to meetings all day long. But, we all know that that’s what the Leader of The Opposition aspires for, to be back on the stage to rap. I think he has a better chance of becoming a rapper than becoming the Prime Minister of Belize.”

Deadline.com reports that almost five million people watched the awards, which took place at the Microsoft Theatre on Sunday.
