Police Await Further Information from Investigation Surrounding Asian Nationals

The Belize Police Department is investigating the group of Asian nationals who entered Belize with what appeared to be fake documents. Last week a group of nine Asian migrants was taken into Ladyville police custody for questioning. Initial investigations revealed that these persons possessed permanent residency, but appeared to have never stepped foot on Belizean territory. Commissioner of Police, Chester Williams, says police are waiting for immigration personnel to conclude their investigation and for the findings to be turned in to their custody for further review.

Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police: “I know that I got a call last week from the Director of Immigration herself and she gave me certain information in respect to some persons who had came into the country and their visa may have not been appear to be genuine. Based on that I sent over one of our senior investigators to meet with the Director of Immigration. They did meet and I think that we’re at the stage where the director is trying to put together all the documents from within immigration and once all those documents and reports are compiled then the investigation will be turned over to police for us to conduct that investigation.”
