Felina James, the mother of two who disappeared and was found slain on the Coastal Highway, is gone but will not be forgotten. The murder case which has investigators looking for clues in Belize City, Belmopan, Sarteneja and the Coastal Highway has added one more part of the country to investigate, which is Dangriga. Assistant Superintendent of Police Alejandro Cowo says they have found the remains of a burnt vehicle in Dangriga that could be the Kia that went missing at the time of James’ disappearance.
Asp Alejandro Cowo: “Police is still conducting investigation following several leads and on Tuesday evening Belize City Police visited 17 miles Valley Rd. Stann Creek where they found remnants of a vehicle, a red in color KIA vehicle. The vehicle was already dismantled, cut up in pieces and was also burned. What police were able to locate from that vehicle was only the four doors and part of the front where the engine was missing likewise. We suspect that probably it was the same vehicle because of the color and because of the brand but yet we are in the process of bringing the vehicle from that area to Belize City and we will be requesting the assistance of the Customs Department so that they can assist us in bringing back the VIN number from the vehicle. We know when the vehicle was taken there by a male person but that is part of the investigation that I cannot tell you at this moment.”
Reporter: “Sir then the vehicle was burnt at the parking lot?”
Asp Alejandro Cowo: “Yes the vehicle was burnt there the same night it was taken. Yes we suspect that is the vehicle. We need to locate that person that took that vehicle there and that is what we have been dealing with. So far the person has not been detained yet but as soon as he is detained he will be questioned by Police.”
Felina James also owned a firearm. That weapon is still missing.
