There are two disturbing reports of attempted assaults on young women in the North and Central Belize. We start with the first incident in Corozal Town, where two minors, seventeen and six years old were on bicycles. And though witnesses were in the area, a man attacked one of the girls. The head of the National Crimes Investigation Branch, ACP Joseph Myvett says the police have caught the suspect.
ACP Joseph Myvette: “Last night shortly after 7:30 PM Police responded to a report of an attempted rape in San Andreas Village in the vicinity of the Rudolph Wade Auditorium where upon arrival a 17 year old Minor who was at the time accompanied by a six year old riding a bicycle in that area was pushed off her bicycle by a hispanic male person. He then attempted to tear off her clothes however a female who was in the area came to her assistance and the assailant fled the area. Police investigations have led to the detention of three persons one of whom has been positively identified as the person who committed this act. He is detained and pending charges at this time.”
