A Central American fugitive was discovered in Southern Belize. The man, 25-year-old Franklin Mendoza, was reportedly a terrorist from El Salvador and was caught after an operation by the Special Branch Unit. According to Commissioner of Police, Chester Williams, he was here in Belize to wreak havoc.

Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police: “We had a Salvadoran who was wanted for local terrorism in Salvador. We have contacted our Salvadoran counterpart, they have confirmed that he is wanted and the matter is now in the hands of immigration. We are hoping that they are going to expel or give him an OTL and get him out of the country to go back to Salvador. May I say that as we look at the expansion of gangs across the country we have now assigned two members of the Anti Gang Task Force in Dangriga and they’ll be working at going after those gang members in the Stann Creek district and primarily in the Bella Vista area.”

Reporter: Was he organizing gangs in Bella Vista?

Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police: “From what we understand yes.”

There was recently a shooting over the weekend in the same village, but the ComPol stated that the two incidents were not related.
