Police have made a major breakthrough in a double homicide that gripped the nation over a year ago. Yesterday, investigators formally arrested and charged 29-year-old Akeem Alfred Richards, a Belizean construction worker from the Cayo District, for two counts of murder in connection with the deaths of Clint Castillo and Andrew Muns.  The tragic shooting unfolded on the night of July 6, 2024.  Reports at the time indicated that both Castillo and Muns were socializing when they were ambushed by an armed gunman. The assailant opened fire at close range, fatally wounding both men before fleeing the area. Despite the quick response of first responders, neither victim survived.  Police launched an intensive investigation, gathering forensic evidence and interviewing multiple witnesses over the past year. That work culminated this week in the arrest of Richards, whom authorities believe were directly responsible for carrying out the deadly attack.  Richards has since been remanded to custody, pending trial.
