Police Commissioner Reacts to Guilty Verdict in Laddie Gillett’s Murder Trial

Love News reached out to Police Commissioner Chester Williams following today’s verdict to get his reaction and feedback.  According to the commander, the verdict comes as no surprise.

Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police: “We had anticipated that outcome. As I’ve always said to the public particularly those who believe that we have the propensity of covering up for our officers when they do wrong I have long maintained that we are a department that holds our officers accountable when they do wrong. Our minister and myself we have been ensuring that we speak to officers and let them understand that they way of doing business as police officers must be done in conformity with the law and respect to the rights and freedom of people. And with that we ensured that the investigation was done properly. We assigned one of our best investigators to investigate the matter because we want to be sure that it was done in a fair manner not just to secure a conviction but also when I say fair I mean an investigator who was going to look at everything objectively and gather the evidence that needed to be gathered to prove what needed to be proved in court and so we’re happy for the outcome.”
